There has been recent media speculation as to whether the Sherwood police station will be closed, with one or two people collecting petitions to ensure that the station remains open.

With the speculation increasing as to whether the closure of the Sherwood police station is fact or fiction State Member for Indooroopilly, Denver Beanland wishes to stop the rumours once and for all.

Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Racing, Russel Cooper, has given Mr Beanland an ironclad assurance that the Sherwood police station will remain open.

"Sherwood police station is definitely not being closing down," Mr Beanland said.

"It was only 18 month ago that the upstairs section of the station was renovated to provide more room."

Mr Beanland said, "The station provides vital support to Sherwood and surrounding districts."
